Your uninhabited island is selling for pennies – but getting there is a bit tricky.
Barlocco Island, off the south coast of Scotland six miles from the nearest town, is on sale for around $190,000.
The plush green island, which extends over about 25 acres, has no houses or buildings, but boasts a pebbly beach and a flood pond that collects rainwater for wildlife during the winter months.
For a US buyer to get to the island, they’d must fly to Glasgow and take a two-hour drive to the nearest town, Gatehouse of Fleet.
From there it was a six-mile boat ride to Barlocco, although the island can even be reached at low tide by an all-terrain vehicle or on foot along a rock path.
Travel is not easy for locals either – the nearest train station in Dumfries is about an hour’s bus ride from Gatehouse of Fleet.
Aaron Edgar, sales agent for the Galbraith Group, said he was optimistic about buyers fascinated about the land, which is the westernmost island of the Isles of Fleet.

David Corrie, one other listing agent, noted that buyers would likely struggle to construct or continue to exist the small island as the site is designated a “Site of Special Scientific Interest” as a result of its flora, fauna and natural features.
The islands in the area are also considered a refuge for wildlife, including black-backed gulls and rare plants similar to the fragrant orchid.
“This will significantly limit the possibility of obtaining a constructing permit for any everlasting structure or dwelling,” said agent David Corrie Latest York Times. “The one option for anyone who desires to stay on the island for any length of time would be off-grid solutions like solar energy.”
