So nice that their name was repeated twice.
Married couple Nicole Marie Skutelnik, 35, and Nicole Marie LaCroce, 37, share the same first and middle name – so when it got here to selecting a final name, that they had to give you a creative solution.
The couple, who met in 2021 on an LGBTQ dating app, didn’t even realize that they had the same middle name until they added one another on Facebook two weeks later.
As a substitute of adopting the same last name, they decided to drop it entirely and keep their very own to forestall further confusion amongst others.
“I do know that for Italian girls born in the 80s, Marie is the most general middle name,” LaCroce told the South West News Service.
“So [after I found her on Facebook] I asked, “Are you the type of Italian whose middle name is Marie?” and the answer was yes!”
Nevertheless, in line with SWNS, each LaCroce and Skutelnik find the odd coincidence amusing because it shows how much they have in common. Nevertheless, LaCroce is Nikki for brief, while Skutenik is Nothing.
Before the wedding, they thought of using each surnames and connecting them with a hyphen, but decided against it.
Even so, they admit that their name left some people of their lives – and strangers – a bit puzzled.
After they got married in a virtual ceremony in October, some of the guests were confused as to who Nicole was addressing — including LaCroce’s dad.
“My dad couldn’t come so he contacted us via FaceTime,” she explained. “He was confused who he was talking to!”
The completely satisfied couple just laughed about it.
“It was really fun during our wedding ceremony,” said LaCroce.
“How over and over did the officer say ‘Nicole Marie’ – I wish I had counted.”
Though they have been together for several years, they admitted to SWNS that each time their shared name is known as out, it’s hard to know which one of them is definitely being addressed.
Things also get murky for the couple once they travel together because it causes some bewilderment once they have to present their IDs.
Before that, that they had to travel quite a bit because Skutelnik lived in Vancouver, Canada, and LaCroce in Pennsylvania. Now they live together in Vancouver.
“One time we drove across the border together and the guy said, ‘Which one of you is Nicole? and we each put our hands up,” said LaCroce.
“Then he asked, ‘Who’s Nicole Marie? and we each raised our hands again.
They admitted that at first this kind of interaction annoyed them, but now they will have a superb laugh about it.
“We roll our eyes, but we’re each carefree people, so we laugh about it,” LaCroce said.
In the future, the two don’t plan to have children, but they joked that in the event that they ever did, they would love to name their child Nicole Marie, in addition to give them a special surname.
“We’re not too confused by it anymore, and if we are, it’s just fun,” said Skutelnik.
“But that exactly underlines how much we have in common!”
Amazingly, Nicole Maries aren’t the only ones with the same first name.
In February, a mom went viral on TikTok after she revealed that each member of her immediate family had the same middle name – Lauren.
One other couple, Kevin and Kellie, gave their daughter a mixture of their names – calling her Kevleigh.
