Social media platform Twitter Inc will remove accounts which were inactive for several years, CEO Elon Musk has said tweet on Monday.
Musk added that users of the microblogging platform may even see a decrease within the variety of followers.
Based on Twitter’s policy, users should log into their account at the least once every 30 days to avoid everlasting deletion resulting from prolonged inactivity.
Earlier this month, Musk “threatened” to transfer National Public Radio’s Twitter account to a different company after the general public broadcaster stopped posting content on its 52 official Twitter feeds in protest of Twitter’s label suggesting government involvement in editorial content.
Last month, Twitter removed the verified blue tag from the profiles of 1000’s of individuals, including celebrities, journalists and outstanding politicians.
Musk made account verification a part of Blue’s Twitter subscription, which he said would solve the issue of bot accounts on the social media platform.
