San Francisco officials are investigating Twitter after six former employees say owner Elon Musk’s management team broke the law by turning the corporate’s headquarters right into a “Twitter Hotel” for workers forced to stay awake late to rework the social media platform.
reports the San Francisco Chronicle. that city officials are launching a final investigation into the corporate Musk acquired late last 12 months.
That is after former employees, including a former vp of real estate, alleged in a lawsuit filed in federal court in Delaware that Twitter didn’t pay them promised severance pay. Twitter tries to dismiss the case.
In addition they claim that Musk’s team ordered quite a few alterations to the corporate’s headquarters in a Thirties Art Deco constructing in downtown San Francisco that violated constructing codes.
These changes included turning off the lights and adding locks that may not open in an emergency, based on the lawsuit.
One reason is Tracy Hawkins, Twitter’s former vp of real estate and workplace, who was chargeable for managing the corporate’s physical offices and rentals.
The lawsuit says Hawkins was not initially against Musk’s acquisition, but “was forced to resign when Elon Musk and his transition team insisted that she violated her skilled ethics by causing Twitter to deliberately break leases and other agreements.”
The lawsuit alleges that Musk refused to pay rent for the constructing.

This is not the primary time San Francisco officials have clashed with Musk, who bought Twitter for $44 billion in October and gutted most of its workforce by converting a part of the corporate’s headquarters into bedrooms.
Earlier this 12 monthsSan Francisco constructing inspectors gave Twitter’s construction contractor two weeks to submit an amended constructing occupancy permit if the corporate desired to proceed using the 2 meeting rooms as bedrooms.
Town launched an investigation in December after Forbes reported on the beds, prompting Musk’s owner to attack San Francisco mayor London Breed, despite no evidence she was involved within the inspection.
