Singer Tina Turner has died at the age of 83 after an extended illness, in keeping with an announcement posted on her official Facebook page on Wednesday.
“It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. Together with her music and boundless passion for all times, she charmed tens of millions of fans around the globe and inspired future stars.
“Today we are saying goodbye to an expensive friend who left us all her biggest work: her music. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family. Tina, we’ll miss you a lot,” he continues.
Commonly known as the Queen of Rock and Roll, Turner’s profession spans over 60 years and includes the long-lasting songs “Proud Mary” and “What’s Love Got to Do with It”.
In recent times, Turner suffered from poor health. In 2016, she was diagnosed with bowel cancer and in 2017 she underwent a kidney transplant.
In a separate statement to Sky News, a spokesman said Turner died “peacefully” at her home in Kusnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland.
“Together with her, the world loses a musical legend and role model,” the spokesman said.
