In the words of the fictional Uncle “Full House” Jesse Katsopolis: “Have mercy!”
John Stamos, 59, revealed why he was initially “indignant” at twins Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, 36, for missing the 2016 reboot of “Full House” – and the way talking to them after Bob Saget’s death helped heal.
From 1987 to 1995, the three starred together for eight seasons on the hit sitcom Full House.
“[Bob Saget] played a key role in keeping us all together,” Stamos began during an appearance this week on the Glee podcast stars Kevin McHale and Jenny Ushkowitz, “And that is what you REALLY missed“.
“The twins moved to Recent York… And I actually have to let you know, certainly one of the few good things that got here out of Bob, well… Mary-Kate and Ashley, we didn’t really see them much,” he explained, speaking of the star’s death in 2022 yr.
“I mean, we stayed in contact a bit, but Bob really did. And so they were so great… You hear the gossip, “Oh, they hated their childhood, they hated being on the show or whatever.”
The twins played the role of Michelle Tanner, daughter of Danny Tanner (Bob Saget), while Stamos portrayed their uncle, Jesse Katsopolis, telling the story of a modern-day family reunited after the death of Tanner’s fictional wife.
“Once I did it A Fuller Home they didn’t want to return back,” Stamos continued. “And I was indignant for a minute. And it got here out.”
“But they simply said, ‘We loved our childhood. We loved being with you. We miss Bob. They got here to my house. They brought pork chop and sage. I do not know why, but thanks? It was a frozen pork chop in order that was very nice. So we stayed very close.”
The Post contacted representatives of Stamos and the Olsen twins for comment.
in 2015 it was announced that a reboot of the original show is coming to Netflix, called “Fuller House”.
Stamos said the Olsen twins, who’ve since largely retired from public life, have turned down the opportunity to reprise their original roles.
They starred on the show once they were babies as much as eight years old.
As an alternative, the show starred Stamos and Saget, together with Dave Coulier who played Joey Gladstone, Lori Loughlin as Becky Katsopolis, Jodie Sweetin as Stephanie Tanner, and Scott Weinger who played Steve Hale.
Reboot lasted five seasonsending in 2020.
In 2021, Stamos admitted that he was initially “disillusioned” that the Olsen twins didn’t perform in the reboot during their appearance in “Watch what’s happening livewith Andy Cohen, but I understood their decision.
But as disillusioned as he was, there was a degree where he really wanted the two of them off the daytime sitcom.
He claimed he “couldn’t deal” with the twins’ constant crying during an April podcast appearance.
Stamos explained that the incident occurred during the first episode of the series when he and Coulier’s character were babysitting the Olsens’ character while their father was away.
“They were 11 months old and God bless them,” Stamos said during an April performance Good Guys podcast by Josh Peck and Ben Soffer. “They kept changing: ‘This one won’t cry.’ I could not handle it,” Stamos recalled. “And I said, ‘It is not going to work.’ So that they removed them.”
In the episode, the twins were replaced by a pair of little red-haired actors – and brought back a couple of days later.
