Afroman is prepared for a better power.
The 48-year-old rapper, known for his 2001 hits “Because I Got High” and “Crazy Rap”, announced this week on Instagram is running for president in 2024.
Born Joseph Foreman in Los Angeles, the Grammy-nominated musician said he’s campaigning as an independent candidate and has vowed to turn out to be “our marijuana commander in chief. Our pot head of state.
“There comes a degree in an individual’s life when change has to make an impact,” says his campaign manager, Jason Savage, he wrote on Tuesday on Instagram. “That point is now. Americans are suffering and the established order is unacceptable.”
Savage added that Afroman embodies the American dream because he has personally experienced the judicial system and strived to succeed.
Police raided Afroman’s home in Ohio in August on charges of kidnapping and drug trafficking, but no charges were filed. in 2015 pleaded guilty assault for hitting a girl who jumped on stage at a concert in Mississippi.
“Who higher holds the best office within the land than the tallest and most volatile playa in the sport? He’s for the black man, the Mexican, even the poor white man, all of the individuals who haven’t any rights. So put down your past and pick up your future,” continued Savage.
Outlined Afroman its platform of eight priorities:
- Marijuana decriminalization
- Criminal justice reform
- Law enforcement reform
- Immediate cessation of all foreign aid
- Reparations for African Americans
- Promoting unity, peace and love
- Promotion of occasional shows in skilled sports
- Legalization of prostitution
Afroman revealed his candidacy for president at a concert in Missouri over the weekend.
“Can I make the largest statement I’ve ever made in my life? I’m running for president for 2020-from,” he told the group of adoring fans within the video posted on his Instagram.
“We will get legal weed all over the place,” he added.
Afroman has released 18 studio albums throughout his profession. His latest, Lemon Pound Cake, was released in September.
He isn’t the primary rapper to attempt to turn out to be commander-in-chief. Kanye West infamously ran for president in 2020 because the “Birthday Party” candidate. Troubled rapper “Stronger” announced last month his plans to relaunch in 2024.
Ye even claimed to have asked former President Donald Trump to be his vice-presidential nominee – which was reportedly not received thoroughly.
