Co-starring Aisha Alpha as Carolyn peacock true crime parody “Based on a True Story” appeals to the personal taste of the actress/comedian.
“I used to be fascinated by true crime after I was a youngster,” Alfa, 43, told The Post. “I’m fascinated with people and the way they live, so when something is out of the norm, it’s fascinating to me.
“I watched documentaries about various serial killers and now I even have two young children and as soon as I got pregnant I felt like I used to be allergic to it,” she said. “I can not take into consideration this stuff and it drives me crazy.
“I actually wanted to observe Dahmer on Netflix when it got here out, but I assumed, ‘I can not.’ My brain will go mad with worry.”

Alfa said she knew Carolyn suited her in several ways when she read the character’s description before filming began.
“So far as I remember, she’s 40, successful, sassy and outspoken – and sometimes looks at [online real estate site] Zillow for apartments in several cities when her husband shouldn’t be looking,” she said. “I just loved it. I’m 40 years old and doing well, I like my husband [Josh Green] and I even have kids, but I imagine what life could be like if I could just go to Paris without packing for the kids and never worry about food because my husband doesn’t eat pork.
“I even have weird fantasies despite the fact that I like my life.”
And what a life it was. Born in Nigeria, Alfa grew up in Canada (Winnipeg), lived in France and South Korea where she played skilled soccer before turning to dramatic acting and stand-up.
“I played soccer in Canada at University of Alberta,” she said. “We won the national championships once and won silver twice, and from there I played in the World University Games in Korea, after which played for 2 seasons in Fury from Ottawa In [all-female] USL-W Leaguewhich now not exists.
“Then I went to Korea and played in the men’s league,” she says. “I used to be the only woman ever to play on this league and I brought one in every of my good friends from university to play for a rival team to lift awareness that ladies can play [soccer].
“Now I do not play in any respect,” she said. “I cost with my children, but that is it. Nobody wants me to educate a team of children – my brain is simply too competitive.”
Alfa released her debut comedy album All the Parts in 2000 Only for laughs comedy festival, produced a series of YouTube interviews “plus onelaunched her own podcast,Scream showand appeared in “Good Trouble”, “Sorry for Your Loss” and starred Miss Grell in the Canadian TV series Degrassi: Next Class.
She currently produces and headlines the monthly comedy show “Toasted” in Hotel Café in Los Angeles.
“It’s something that can allow us to get out of our comfort zone,” she said. “For our next gig, we have now some musicians and song parodies.
“It’s great fun to supply and create something and be involved in the community – and it’s an ideal solution to showcase ourselves and what we are able to do on this comedy box.”
