And identical to that… every little thing could have turned out completely otherwise!
During a recent interview, it was revealed that Sarah Jessica Parker almost missed playing her iconic character, Carrie Bradshaw, in the 1998 blockbuster “Sex and the City” as her two costars, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, auditioned for the role. .
Nixon starred as attorney Miranda Hobbes while Davis played Charlotte York while each reprized their roles in the spin-off “And Just Like That…”
Davis recalled while acting at The “And Just Like That… Author’s Room” podcast. this week she was asked to read Parker’s character because they weren’t sure if the actress would eventually do it.
“I assumed, ‘That is cute, but I can not play the part! Davis said during the podcast. “For instance:” What are you fascinated by? I meant hello!”
She explained that Parker’s character Carrie was described as having “the body of Heather Locklear and the mind of Dorothy Parker”.
Davis admitted that she “understood” Charlotte’s character rather more than Carrie.
Nixon also revealed that she auditioned for the role of Carrie before she began reading for Miranda, a personality she admitted was a bit misplaced because she often played the role of somebody who was “meek”.
“They took me to audition with Carrie, and I auditioned, and they said, ‘Yeah, not a lot,'” Nixon said during the podcast.
She continued by explaining how she eventually landed the role of Hobbes.
“I’m not often that proactive, but … at the time, there didn’t appear to be 4 women,” said Nixon. “There gave the impression to be seven of them… It is a show shot in Recent York, and that never happens. Should be one of those women I can play. Didn’t they see me as another person?
Nixon said she auditioned for Miranda repeatedly and even tested the show.
Interestingly, Nixon claimed that the producers didn’t reach out to her immediately, and she didn’t land the role until several months later.
The series, which chronicled the lives of 4 women living in Recent York, also starred Kim Cattrall, who played the sexy publicist Samantha Jones.
The series ran from 1998 to 2004 and spanned six seasons on HBO.
In 2020, it was announced that the series can be revived as a derivative titled “And Just Like That…” starring Nixon, Parker and Davis.
The primary episode aired in December 2021 on Max, previously often known as HBO Max, and the second season is scheduled for June 22.
Cattrall disagreed with the rumors – and even some seeming bits of evidence – a couple of feud between her and the solid.
The split apparently began in 2017, after they were presupposed to shoot the third a part of the film “Sex and the City”.
Production was abruptly halted after alleged drama between Cattrall and the ladies ensued, while an article published in allegedly revealed by the Day by day Mail Cattrall’s “demands” for the film at the time.
Nevertheless, this upcoming season will see some twists, as The Post revealed last month that Cattrall will probably be returning to reprise her role on the show in the “cliffhanger” episode.
One insider claimed that her appearance was kept so “quiet” that Cattrall’s name didn’t even appear on the entry list.
An insider told The Post that the show’s staff were “definitely shocked, very intrigued by how they’d write it – and very excited”.
They continued: “She said she would never do it! She said she would never come back!
