For a customer craving pizza while sunbathing on the beach or relaxing in the park, Pizza from Pizzeria Domino`s wants delivery to be as easy as at home.
Domino’s on Tuesday announced a latest Pinpoint Delivery service that permits customers across the country to order to locations without an ordinary address. Customers can track their orders in real time with the company’s tracking service, access the driver’s GPS location and receive text notifications about delivery progress, the pizza giant said in press release.
“No address? No problem,” said Christopher Thomas-Moore, Domino’s vp and chief digital officer. “Domino’s is proud to be the first U.S. fast food restaurant brand to deliver one-touch food to customers.”
The corporate said the Pinpoint Delivery program was launched in all Domino’s stores nationwide last week received positive feedback from customers and delivery drivers.
“Pop-up window in the application tells customers they’ve 4 minutes to fulfill their driver and pick up their order at a delegated pick-up location “near where they placed their order,” Domino spokeswoman Danielle Bulger told CNBC.
Domino’s has launched an identical pin-drop delivery technology called Domino’s Anywhere through its essential franchisee in Australia in 2017. The implementation of Pinpoint Delivery will make this feature available for the first time in US markets.
Domino’s shares fell greater than 1% on Tuesday. Over the past five days, they’ve increased by over 8%.
Stifel analyst Chris O’Cull lifted the pizzeria chain to buy-out last week, saying the company will “stabilize delivery sales and proceed to extend delivery sales to latest all-time highs,” CNBC reported last week.
The digital segment accounts for about 80% of the company’s orders. Domino’s faced challenges recruiting and retaining enough delivery drivers last 12 months, which hit sales.
As competition in the food delivery industry increased during the pandemic, Domino’s expanded its technology to realize an edge. In 2021, the company began testing robotic pizza delivery cars and integrated voice ordering AppleCarPlay technology earlier this 12 months.
