Claws come out – purr.
A neighbor feline showdown explodes online when an indignant pet owner accuses the guy round the corner of being a “cat pervert” because his four-legged friend usually wanders into the person’s yard.
And virtual vultures enjoy watching men fight like cats and dogs.
“You might be keeping it in your yard and that is our cat!” his parent barks at his neighbor, who’s recording their feline exchange.
The footage of the commotion, which garnered over 23 million views on Twitter, was shared virally by @DetectClips, a Brooklyn-based account. (The precise location of the brawl is currently unknown.)
Within the video, two guys are seen arguing over the cat, Mercury, standing on opposite sides of the fence. The kitten’s rightful guardian insists that his neighbor is persuading the cat onto his property feli– innocent intention.
“You might be unreasonable people. You are holding our cat,” he yelled, demanding, “Go to your yard and say, ‘Mercury, go home! Don’t come to our yard again!’” while making scary gestures.
Nonetheless, when a scolded neighbor reminded the annoyed guy that cats didn’t understand English or hand signals, the owner threatened to call the police.
But their hissing didn’t stop there.
The annoyed daddy cat accused his neighbor of luring Mercury into the neighboring yard with treats, asking in a sarcastic tone, “So the cat is eating or drinking something, right? Oh no! Never!” He then considers his enemy a “cat pervert”.
“Cat pervert! Feline pervert! Cat Pervert!” the person yelled while a neighbor denies ever chasing his kitty.
The annoyed pet owner then knocks over his bird neighbor by waving his middle finger within the air in frustration.
“We’re calling the police because you are hiding our cat,” he spat. “[You’re] hiding our cat, asshole.
“It’s against the law,” he continued. “It’s called keeping an animal.”
Staying off-camera, a neighbor tried to reason with the annoyed man by saying, “I understand the anger if my cat was in your yard. But you are indignant because your cat is in my yard.
However the bullied dude refused to back down.
“You make things worse,” he complained. “Just send my cat home!”
Unfortunately for the headstrong daddy cat, Twitter critics completely disagreed together with his furry fury – some even blamed him for Mercury’s penchant for roaming.
“As a cat owner, he should know that cats do what they need,” a social media watcher tweeted.
“It’s because of him that the cat ran away,” said one other.
“Looks just like the old boy is just jealous,” added one other commenter. “Karen’s masculine spirit is powerful on this case.”
Violent disputes over pets between neighbors within the neighborhood are unfortunately becoming commonplace.
In June, a 22-year-old man virally accused his block of flats of stealing a cat in a popular Reddit post. In October 2022, a cat-loving woman from Brisbane, Australia received a chilling message from an annoyed neighbor: “Control your pets or they are going to disappear.”
