GoFundMe has released its 2022 Annual Donation Report with plenty of stats, including the most generous states and cities of the 12 months.
In response to the crowdfunding platform, the most generous states per capita are: Vermont, Delaware, Maine, Recent Hampshire, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Georgia, South Carolina, Montana and Virginia.
The positioning reports one donation every second, and 28 million people will give a complete of $25 billion in 2022 to nonprofits and charities.
“Our community has helped provide basic needs during record high inflation, fulfilled educational dreams and supported people whose lives have been uprooted by natural disasters, war and loss,” the company wrote in its report.
Along with states, GoFundMe tracked the most generous cities. In 2022, the most generous cities are: Marietta, Georgia, Spring, Texas, Silver Spring, Maryland, Sarasota, Florida, Bradenton, Florida, Olympia, Washington, Alpharetta, Georgia, Miami, Florida, Fort Myers, Florida, and Minneapolis, Florida Minnesota.
The positioning has also released special statistics on significant contributions of the 12 months. In 2022, there was a 110% increase in donations to infant formula, a 60% increase in fundraising for gasoline, a ten% increase in fundraising for groceries, $2.3 million raised for Eagle and Girl Guide projects, $9 million raised for miscellaneous places of worship, $150,000 raised for veterans, $50 million donated to assist cats and dogs, $108 million to rebuild homes after natural disasters, and $250 million raised to assist Ukraine.
#GivingTuesday, a charity holiday held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, raised a record $3.1 billion in 24 hours for US charities.
Charitable donations have come amid rampant inflation and the rising cost of living many Americans have faced this 12 months.
“That is what we saw,” #GivingTuesday CEO Asha Curran told The Associated Press. “Regardless of what persons are experiencing, they’ve been as generous as they’ll.”
The report also tracked donation statistics for the UK, Canada, Republic of Ireland and Australia.
