The Tom Cruise-led “Mission: Not possible – Dead Reckoning Part One” was #1 at the box office on Friday, taking in $16.55 million, according to Box Office Mojo IMDB.
The spy motion flick that the Post hailed as “the best movie of the summer” was released in select theaters on Monday, with a wider release on Wednesday.
“The Sound of Freedomwhich finished third last week, moved up to second place, earning close to $7.5 million.
The film relies on the true story of Timothy Ballard, a former Homeland Security agent who takes down a baby sex abuse ring in Colombia. The Post reported that some liberal media outlets consider it a QAnon whistle.
In third place is the supernatural horror film Insidious: The Red Door, which grossed $4.15 million. It was released last Friday and grossed $32.65 million in domestic sales during its opening weekend, the second highest opening weekend for the franchise, according to Forbes.
