A middle-aged Australian man fatally shot his wife and badly injured their daughter, leaving their bleeding bodies within the driveway before moving into a fight with police over the weekend, police said.
Officers were called to a suburban home in Adelaide, Australia at around 1.20pm on Saturday following reports of a shooting in the realm, in keeping with news.com.au. When officers arrived on the scene, they found his wife and daughter lying within the driveway with gunshot wounds.
Vasilis Vergulis, 51, allegedly shot his wife, Aleksandra Vergulis, also 51. She was already dead when the police arrived.
The couple’s daughter, 22-year-old Daniela Vergulis, was seriously injured. Authorities took her to hospital, where her condition was described as stable.
The motive for the shooting was unclear.
The police besieged the home where the suspect had barricaded himself. The 2 sides negotiated for greater than three hours before the man finally gave up.
The police charged Vasilis Vergulis with murder and attempted murder. He has been denied bail and is as a consequence of appear in court on Monday.
