Elon Musk said on Sunday that he wanted to change the Twitter logo, tweeting: “We will soon say goodbye to the Twitter brand and progressively all birds.”
In a post on the location at 12:06 a.m. EST, the billionaire owner of the social media platform added: “If enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make it global tomorrow.”
Musk posted an image of the flickering “X” and later in a Twitter audio chat, Spaces replied “Yes” when asked if the Twitter logo would change, adding that “it must have been done a protracted time ago.”
Under Musk’s tumultuous tenure since he bought Twitter in October, the corporate modified its name to X Corp, reflecting the billionaire’s vision of making a “super app” like China’s WeChat.
The corporate didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
Twitter’s website says its logo, featuring a blue bird, is “our most recognizable asset.”
“That is why we’re protecting it,” he added.
The bird was temporarily replaced in April by Dogecoin’s Shiba Inu dog, which helped lead to a surge available in the market value of the meme coin.
The corporate drew widespread criticism from users and marketers when Musk announced earlier this month that Twitter would limit the variety of tweets per day that different accounts could read.
Each day limits helped fuel the expansion of Meta’s rival Threads, which surpassed 100 million registrations inside five days of launch.
Twitter’s latest complication was a lawsuit filed Tuesday, alleging that the corporate owed no less than $500 million in severance pay to former employees.
Since Musk took over, the corporate has laid off greater than half of its employees to cut costs.
