Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert’s split is popping messy as the previous NBA player is attempting to remove her “cruel treatment” claim from their divorce filing.
In her Nov. 22 filing, the singer and dancer reportedly claimed Shumpert made her feel endangered, and subsequently, cited “cruel treatment” as the rationale for the divorce.
Under Georgia case law, meaning the wedding “must consist of the willful infliction of pain, bodily or mental, upon the complaining party, similar to reasonably justifies apprehension of danger to life, limb, or health.”
Nonetheless, Shumpert claims these aspects don’t pertain to their case, and needs these accusations faraway from the paperwork.
He asked in court Thursday that the grounds for divorce be modified to be “irretrievable broken bond,” in response to documents obtained by TMZ.
Shumpert added he has never been irresponsible in relation to caring for the couple’s two daughters, Junie, 7, and Rue, 3.
The Post has contacted reps for Taylor and Shumpert for comment.
In Taylor’s original filing, she accused Shumpert of “displaying extreme narcissistic behavior throughout the vast majority of their marriage.”
He also allegedly sent her “condescending and manipulative” messages, and “didn’t want her to work” as he was “insecure” that his skilled basketball profession was ending.
Shumpert officially retired from the NBA in 2021.
Taylor also accused Shumpert of cheating on her multiple times throughout their marriage and “being extremely emotionally and mentally abusive” towards her.
She previously claimed “infidelity” was not an element after they first separated in September.
