PARIS – A man stabbed six people at the Gare du Nord train station in Paris on Wednesday morning, leaving one with serious injuries, a police spokesman said.
Police said the attacker was shot several times by police and brought to hospital with serious injuries. The person’s motivations weren’t immediately clear, force added.
One police source said the police officer who shot the attacker was off-duty.
The station is one in every of the busiest stations in Europe and the fundamental link between Paris, London and the northern a part of Europe.
Police secured the area after the attack, which occurred around 0645 CET (0545 GMT).
Radio France Info, citing rail operator SNCF, said trains were running normally.
