Ehlie Luna at all times desires to be on the forefront of celebrity beauty trends, but she doesn’t need to go under the knife.
In December, she was delighted to see a photograph of “Funny Girl” star Lea Michele with strikingly chiselled cheeks. The image has led many to take a position that Michele achieved this glance through surgery to remove fat from his cheeks. Bushwick beauty and lifestyle content creator Luna wondered if she could achieve an analogous effect with makeup.
“When I saw Lea Michele’s photo, I knew I wanted a extremely contoured look too,” she said, but “I never considered removing the fat from my cheeks or having any cosmetic surgery on my face.”
When removing fat from the cheeks, doctors take a grape-sized amount of fat stored within the lower half of the cheek to cut back swelling and slim the face. Like most beauty surgeries, surgery comes with health risks, including infection, facial nerve damage, and numbness — not to say a hefty price tag.
In Recent York, an hour-long procedure, during which patients are frequently awake, often costs between $4,000 and $7,500.
Luna and others are turning to contouring, concealer and bronzer for a bang for the buck. On TikTok, the hashtag #BuccalFatRemovalMakeup has over 1.9 million views. Luna’s detailed tutorial for creating an elegant illusion it attracted nearly 25,000 fans.
“I at all times knew there have been certain things I could do to vary the form of my face,” said Luna. “And I love to supply [my social media followers] the chance to check the look with makeup before making a choice [to get surgery]”.
To attain the look, Luna starts with application Fenty Match Stick ($28) in espresso to the curve of her cheekbone. (Note for makeup newbies: Luna suggests using a foundation two to a few shades darker than your foundation.)
“With this contour, you will create an L-shaped line from the tip of the ear, along the cheekbone and down towards the jawline,” she told The Post.
Luna then hires her Real Techniques soft contouring brush ($9.99) and gently strokes along the “L” shape to melt the road.
Then the make-up master adds a couple of swipes to it Kulfi Essential Match Concealer ($26) each above and below the outline.
Luna uses her contouring brush to mix the concealer into her skin before applying a dab Dassa Myricks Yummy Skin Serum Foundation ($34) to create a seamless finish.
To further enhance the design, it decorates the curves of the nose and brow Saie Beauty Sun Melt bronzer ($32). Light soiling Laura Mercier Transparent Fixing Powder ($40) seals the deal.
And for fun, he interrupts the prim with a red or nude lip contour MAC chestnut lip pencil ($21).
“With the ability to create the look myself is a fantastic feeling,” enthused Luna. “You may show yourself as your individual masterpiece.”
Face painting fanatic Nikkia Joy, from Melbourne, Australia, was almost stunned by her results after her cheek fat is gone with the contouring trick.
“Oh my god, it really worked,” exclaimed an impressed Joy to her over 561,600 TikTok followers. “Take a look at the definition on this side of my face,” she added.
For Luna, using makeup as a fast, easy, and no-blade substitute for surgery is empowering.
“Having the ability to vary anything you need to change [about your face] at home and with the ability to wash it off at the tip of the night is the most effective,” she said. “You get the effect without going to the acute of permanently cutting your face.”
