A giant celebrity seal has made a dramatic return to a small town in Victoria, Australia, bringing traffic to a halt, smashing servo glass and attracting the eye of the police.
The large seal Henry tossed flew across a busy street in Point Lonsdale – a coastal town 12 miles southeast of Geelong – wowing locals with its presence.
It was caught on video because it emerged from Port Philip Bay before heading to the car parking zone and attempting to get to the corner service station.
The behemoth attracted a crowd of delighted locals who watched it walk down the road and even attracted the eye of law enforcement officials who helped clear the realm.
Henry has been a preferred tourist attraction for years, and his size and laid-back personality almost get him into trouble.
Prior to now, a seal has been reported to have left dents in cars and even crushed a bike during a joyride around Bellarine, Australia.
Podcast host Jacqueline Felgate shared the encounter on Instagram.
“I won’t ever top this content,” she wrote.
“Apparently, the elephant seal Henry has been coming to the Barwon Heads region for greater than 10 years.
“He had slightly adventure today. The person in green is A [Wildlife Victoria] worker and did an awesome job in every way getting him back to the ocean.”
Her followers immediately fell in love with Henry and his antics.
Other locals have stated that it is probably not the unique Henry, but a living relative.
“Henry has been a frequent visitor to Point Lonsdale and Geelong because the early 2000s,” wrote one.
“He has not been seen for nearly 10 years. I wish it was him because I volunteered to take care of him while he was ashore to maintain him secure.
“But I’d say it’s one other interesting seal”
“My son was OBSESSED with Henry’s original seal when he was about three years old,” said one other.
“He’s 19 now, perhaps he’s Henry Jr?”
A Victoria Police spokesperson told the Herald Sun that Henry was taken care of by Wildlife Victoria, who eventually helped the local mystery get back to sea safely.
