A 15-year-old Los Angeles college student who died of a suspected overdose went missing for eight hours before her body was found in her bathroom by her friend’s stepfather, the lawyers behind the brand new lawsuit said Wednesday.
Student Melanie Ramos was tragically pronounced dead in her bathroom by paramedics one September evening with suspected fentanyl poisoning after Helen Bernstein High School officials did not hassle to look for the girl, possibly delaying the medical attention that might have saved her, a lawsuit filed on Monday based on the Los Angeles Times.
A wrongful death and neglect lawsuit filed by the mother of a deceased student, Elena Perez, states that her daughter and her friend – who also overdosed and was hospitalized – were found by the friend’s stepfather around 8:30 p.m. on September 13.

“If not for the parent of the opposite party, my niece wouldn’t have been found until the subsequent day,” Gladys Manriques, Ramos’ aunt, said at a Wednesday press conference. based on CBS Los Angeles. “That is why we would like justice. We don’t desire one other parent to suffer what we’ve.”
Perez learned of her daughter’s death the subsequent morning from the Los Angeles Police Department.
