Hannah Spearritt, who rose to fame as a member of British pop group S Club 7, has revealed that she is now homeless and compelled to sleep in an office with her two young children.
said the 41-year-old singer Sun that she, her partner Adam Thomas, 42, and their two daughters, Tea, 4, and Tora, 2, got just two days to seek out an apartment after the landlord issued an eviction notice around Christmas.
The eviction forced Spearritt to call in favors from friends after she and Thomas were told that they had a “crazy” $10,400 upfront for short-term rent or move out.
“What pissed us off was that we did not have time to seek out one other place,” she told the outlet. “We had something for Christmas but ran out of time before we could move in.”
“It’s only been just a few weeks. We filled the unopened cafe with our stuff – we were lucky to have such a spot to store it – but we had nowhere to go.”
Spearritt, whose band made $85 million in the late Nineties and early 2000s, says she wasn’t paid fairly in comparison with the revenue the team was raking in.
“People think all of us should be millionaires, but unfortunately that is just not true,” Spearritt explained. “It was what it was, and we rejoiced at the time.”
The singer’s partner added: “S Club 7 manager Simon Fuller did well, didn’t he?”
Fuller, who also managed the Spice Girls, is value approx estimated at $600 million.
Meanwhile, Spearritt, who reportedly earned $190,000 a yr during her time with the group, revealed that she and her family now sleep in a friend’s business constructing – and use the office space as their lounge.
“There have been children’s beds and we took out crayons. It was stressful,” she added.
Adding insult to injury, Spearritt was also found in bed because of a recent illness, making their current living situation even harder.
The couple also planned to open their very own coffee shop, nonetheless, after being evicted, they were forced to place their business ventures on hold.
