Revelations reads like an overloaded spy thriller: secret foreign police stations in Manhattan, shady foreign security thugs preying on American residents in American neighborhoods. Nevertheless it wasn’t fiction: the next stories in The Post, last month reported the Latest York Times that the FBI had raided an unspecified constructing in Chinatown, where an innocent-looking social association on the third floor had hidden a wicked surprise – an unauthorized “police center” affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party.
This secret police station is a terrifying threat to Chinese Americans, the CCP’s other goals – and America’s very sovereignty.
The Times has speculated that these stations are linked to what the CCP calls “Operation Fox Hunt”: an alleged anti-corruption campaign that more often turns into intimidation, harassment, and sometimes even forced rendition of US residents.
Not in Beijing, not in Hong Kong, not in some distant province. Here. On American soil. And the Spanish human rights group Safeguard Defenders has identified such CCP secret police stations in our country in addition to within the UK, France, Spain, Germany and Japan.
The FBI calls it “transnational repression.” In practice, because of this a gang of people sent by the CCP tracked down your location in america, “escorted” your elderly father from China accompanied by a “doctor”, and sat outside your own home until you were forced to take heed to their blackmail. In response to Propublica, they are watching your daughter, they are recording her, they are harassing her online.
Sooner or later you discover a note stuck to the door: “If you would like to return to the mainland and spend 10 years in prison, your wife and youngsters will likely be superb.”
Should you are a Uyghur journalist living within the US, international repression could mean the imprisonment of dozens of members of the family in retaliation for reports of atrocities in Xinjiang. Should you are a Han Chinese dissident, as reported by Newsweekit could mean running over your automobile on a dark road within the outskirts of Washington.
In response to a federal indictment last month, for a student activist, that might need meant receiving a chat message: “Post more and I’ll chop your hands off” from a fellow student after you sent out pro-Chinese leaflets on democracy. Then, within the aftermath, it was reported that China’s state security forces had been informed of your loved ones’s whereabouts and would “welcome” them.
Other outlined last 12 months’s federal indictment how a Chinese agent stalked and harassed “Victim 1”, whose pregnant daughter was held against her will in China for eight months despite being an American citizen.
The Chinese Ministry of State Security, the Ministry of Public Security and the United Front Department of Labor are lively throughout our country and even the world, together with a staggering variety of other local entities tasked with malicious activities. Threats are often difficult to analyze because they are veiled and mafia-like: You will have an amazing family, it might be a shame if something happened to them. When CCP agents use the tactics of petty crooks, the party’s true face shines.
FBI Director Wray testified that the FBI has greater than 2,000 open-ended investigations focused on the CCP. For the past two years, the office has opened a recent investigation into the CCP “every 10 hours.”
The problem only got worse. Chinese Americans and other groups which have come into conflict with the CCP are now being hunted down on American streets in American neighborhoods. United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Latest York he called these attempted forced repatriations were “outrageous violations of national sovereignty.”
The CCP’s Orwellian model of totalitarian control is meant not just for the 12 million Uyghur Muslims currently living in open-air prisons or for the nearly 1.5 billion Chinese residents, but increasingly for all of us. The recipe is powerful: strong-arm intimidation tactics backed by advanced technology and artificial intelligence.
The only thing standing of their way is our will to defend our values and our success in limiting their sources of leverage. We must arise, ward off and protect each our residents and the various – reformers, freedom fighters and asylum seekers – who’ve taken refuge in our country.
These people have fled terrible oppression, a few of which (as within the case of the Uyghurs) have been declared genocide by each the Republican and Democratic administrations. We cannot allow the threat they so bravely fled to follow them to our shores.
Because the chairman of the CCP’s Select Committee, I’ll work tirelessly to preserve American freedoms and counteract foreign agents persecuting people here on American soil.
I begin this work on Saturday by organizing a gathering outside the secret police station in Chinatown, where I and other members of the bipartisan select committee will present these abuses after which meet with human rights activists.
We wish everyone on this country to know that if the CCP targets them, the US government and the American people will support them. We are going to be certain that law enforcement in any respect levels has the correct training and resources to place an end to this nasty image of our sovereignty.
The United States must remain a haven from persecution, not a hunting ground for authoritarians.
