Heinz issued an SOS alert in quest of a sailor who survived weeks lost at sea eating little greater than ketchup and spices.
“We’d like your help finding a tremendous man with a tremendous story” the corporate recently wrote on Instagram.
“Heinz wants to have fun his secure return home and help him buy a new boat…but we will not find him,” added Heinz. “So we’re putting this message adrift in the ocean of the web because if anyone might help us find it, it’s you.”
Elvis Francois from the Caribbean island of Dominica was repairing his sailboat off the coast of St. Martin within the Netherlands Antilles in December when currents washed his ship out to sea.
Trapped at sea for twenty-four days, a 47-year-old man survived by eating ketchup, garlic powder and Maggi seasoning cubes. He also drank rainwater, which he managed to collect in a cloth.
According to Colombian officials, the sailor was eventually spotted by a passing plane after he wrote “Help” on the hull of his sailboat.
She was rescued by the Colombian Navy about 120 nautical miles northwest of the La Guajira peninsula.
Heinz said he has approached the federal government of Dominica and the Colombian Navy for assist in locating Francois, but to this point the mission has been a wash.
“We have reached an impasse in our seek for Elvis Francois, but we all know he’s still on the market,” the corporate wrote. “Now we’d like your help finding him so we are able to buy him a new boat.”
