In relation to storytelling on the small screen, beauty plays a significant role.
Just ask Daisy Jones and the Six make-up manager Rebekah Wachtelwhich brought Prime Video’s Seventies-inspired rock and roll show to life by evoking the highs and lows of the fictional band.
“Makeup plays an enormous role,” Rebecca told E! What’s latest in an exclusive interview. “Creates a visualization.”
For instance, Daisy Jones (played by Riley Keough) undergoes the group’s biggest transformation as fame sucks her in and spits her out. Using specific eye shadows and skin products, Rebecca paints an image of what a rock star experiences.
“She has a fresh face, she was within the sun, within the vibe of the 70s.” the make-up artist explained. “But then she starts to turn out to be famous and wears a bit of more makeup. We do an entire gamut to indicate her transition from being unhinged and drugs. And when does it Really away, she’s washed up and uses heavy makeup, which is not the Daisy we all know before.”
As Rebecca put it, “You’ll be able to tell something is unsuitable.”
