An enormous 11-foot-long, 1,200-pound great white shark is stalked off the Florida coast as 1000’s of spring jumpers flock to the state’s beaches.
A female predator named “Klon” pinged herself on Monday morning southeast of St. George, Florida within the Gulf of Mexico, in keeping with OCEARCH’s Global Shark Tracker.
For the past two winter seasons, Maple has spent much of her time off the coast of the bay, the organization said.
OCEARCH said Maple might be identified by a particular bite wound on the left side of her body, which they consider got here from a fight with an excellent larger great white shark.
The organization has been tracking the shark because it was first tagged off Nova Scotia in September 2001. Her name comes from the maple leaf, one in all Canada’s national emblems.
Based on its website, OCEARCH is a world non-profit organization that conducts “research on the giants of our ocean to assist scientists collect previously unattainable data within the ocean.”
