Honda is recalling half 1,000,000 vehicles within the US and Canada since the front seatbelts may not fasten properly.
The recall affects a number of the automaker’s best-selling models, including the 2017-2020 CR-V, the 2018-2019 Accord, the 2018-2020 Odyssey, and the 2019 Insight.
Also included are the 2019 and 2020 model years Acura RDX.
Honda says in documents released Wednesday by U.S. safety regulators that the surface coating of the buckle channel may deteriorate over time.
The discharge button may contract within the channel at lower temperatures, increasing friction and stopping the buckle from snapping shut.
If the buckle doesn’t engage, the driving force or passenger might not be restrained in a crash, increasing the chance of injury.
Honda says there are not any reports of injuries brought on by this issue.
Dealers will replace the front seat belt buckle release buttons or buckle assemblies as needed. Owners can be notified by letter from April 17.
