Ford is recalling greater than 1.5 million vehicles within the U.S. as a part of two actions to repair leaky brake hoses and windshield wiper arms that might burst.
The most important of the 2 recalls includes nearly 1.3 million mid-size Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKX cars from 2013-2018. The corporate says in documents released Friday by safety regulators that the front brake hoses could rupture and leak brake fluid. This might increase the travel of the brake pedal and extend the braking distance.
Dealers will replace the hoses. Ford will send owner notification letters by post from April 17. A second letter will probably be sent as soon as parts can be found for repair.
Ford says owners who’ve problems should call their dealer. Some parts are already available for repair. The corporate claims that only about 2% of vehicles may have brake line leaks.
Ford says it’s aware of 1 accident where there is no such thing as a mention of injuries attributable to this issue.
The second recall involves over 222,000 2021 F-150 pickups. Windshield wiper arms may break.
Dealers will replace the arms as needed. Owners will probably be notified starting March 27.
