The graduate and barista had an interesting knack for showing off on the bizarre request of Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak.
“Take something out of your pocket” Nathan Benson of Plano, Texas, said Sajak.
The accounting student nonchalantly pulled a jumbled Rubik’s Cube out of his jacket pocket and commenced to unravel a coloured square as he continued his conversation with Sajak.
Full of zeal, Sajak asked Benson what the record was for solving a Rubik’s Cube fast, to which the barista says, “What, three and a half seconds”, revealing that he is far slower at solving a Rubik’s Cube with his eyes open.
“I’m really good at solving it blindfolded, and I hold the Texas state record for solving it blindfolded,” Benson humbly boasted to his host.
Before Sajak could ask one other query, the competitor solved the puzzle.
Benson solved the brain game survive air in about 15 seconds and proudly displayed the feat of speed for the audience to note.
After solving his pocket puzzle, Benson went on to decipher the remaining puzzles in the sport and was crowned the winner of the episode – winning nearly $30,000.
Benson was then sent to the bonus round where he couldn’t solve the puzzle after choosing the 4 letters “DBCO”.
The riddle turned out to be “Qualified Judge” – and Benson should have guessed the word “judge”.
Sajak, 76, who hosted “Wheel of Fortune” since 1981gave game show fans a break on two separate occasions earlier this week.
On Tuesday, the host threw contestant Fred Jackson a playful choke after he accomplished an ideal game.
Before Jackson took home a complete of $75,800 from the sport and bonus round and was defeated by Sajak, he mentioned to the host that he was knowledgeable wrestler who played the game “for fun”.
On Wednesday, Sajak got annoyed with one other player who was having trouble solving the puzzle and told the player to “solve the rattling mystery”.
