As Jay-Z says in a single of his Grammy-winning hits: “Until next.”
Just every week after leaving The Each day Show, Trevor Noah has already landed one other big gig as host: he’ll officiate at the Grammy Awards for the third yr in a row at the sixty fifth annual ceremony on February 5.
“I do not think it’s normal to host him onceso I haven’t got a superb reference point for that,” Noah said billboards. “It’s exciting. For me, it is a cheat code because I’m a fan of just about all the people on the market.”
This shall be the first time bounties will return to the Crypto.com Arena. Formerly known as the Staples Center, the Los Angeles venue was home to the Grammy Awards from 1999 until the outbreak of the pandemic. In 2021, the biggest music night took place in front of the Los Angeles Convention Center, and for this yr’s concert it moved to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
“The primary was… a totally different strategy to do the show,” Noah said. “After which the next one was in Las Vegas as a result of restrictions [in Los Angeles]and it was a distinct kind of show. Now it’s exciting [because] shall be… hopefully not only normal, but different for the right reasons.”

The 38-year-old comedian brings a wealth of television experience to the Grammys. “I used to be lucky enough to work in television – including South Africa – for 18 years,” he said. “I have been lucky enough to run crazy productions where everyone seems to be running around in circles and you could have to hit your grades and do all sorts of things. And most significantly – quite funny – is that I do not take myself too seriously. I allow myself [to be] resigned themselves to the concept that all the things could go improper straight away.
With so many moving roles at the Grammys because of all the performances, Noah has to think on his feet even greater than usual. “Sometimes [producers] I do not know where the artist is, or someone went to the bathroom at the improper time,” he said. “It’s just the craziest, most unlucky thing to occur to you, and 99 times out of 100 it doesn’t occur. But when that happens, everyone has to breathe and keep things in the right direction. We all the time plan for the worst and hope for the best.”

Although there is a script at the Grammys, Noah likes to improvise. “Anyone who works with me knows that I’ll all the time get out of trouble,” he said. “If something happens that wasn’t in the script and you wish to comment or make a joke about it, we do it and that is cool… We do not know what someone might do before or after the show, so it’s great to find a way to reply that… that we’re juggling flaming swords.”
Calling the Grammys “one of the biggest concert events you will ever go to”, Noah added: “For me, the most vital thing is that it is a celebration.”
