The self-proclaimed “crypto king” was allegedly kidnapped, reportedly enduring days of torture and assault by attackers demanding a multimillion-dollar ransom.
Aiden Pleterski, 23, from Ontario, Canada, was “taken” from Toronto in December and held hostage by kidnappers demanding a minimum of $3 million, his father and associates said: CTV News Toronto reported.
Details of the kidnapping were revealed in court documents related to a bankruptcy proceeding wherein Pleterski was said to have spent thousands and thousands of dollars living lavishly as a substitute of investing.
“Principally, they held him for about three days, drove around different, different parts of southern Ontario, beat him, tortured him, allowed him to ensure calls only to certain people. I wasn’t one of those people he could have contacted,” his father, whose identity has not been identified, said in December.
While held captive, Pleterski contacted his owner and demanded $3 million, in keeping with court documents.
“I got rather a lot of calls from Aiden, but it surely was late at night,” said the owner, “after which around 1:30 a.m. I finally had enough and answered the phone.”
The host recounted how Pleterski said there was nobody else he could call, to which he replied, “There’s absolutely nothing I can do.”
Pleterski is embroiled in a bankruptcy controversy wherein he allegedly invested greater than $40 million – as a substitute he spent nearly $16 million on lavish vacations, expensive cars and personal planes, in keeping with CTV News.
Bankruptcy trustee Rob Stelzer told CTV Pleterski that “he was running a business where he was telling people he was going to take a position their money, and he didn’t.”
“He really didn’t do what he said he would,” Stelzer added.
In early December, Stelzer told CTV that he had been told by Toronto police that Pleterski had been kidnapped, adding: “I mean, of course, he owes rather a lot of money to rather a lot of people.”
In line with the report, Pleterski actually invested lower than 2 percent. funds.
