A tenant revealed a disgusting source of “dirt” that was appearing in her shower.
Julia Lang-Malone moved to a house on Australia’s Gold Coast along with her husband and youngsters last 12 months and was scuffling with a terrible smell in her bathroom.
Despite constant scrubbing, the stench kept coming back – after which she made a grim discovery.
Ms. Lang-Malone found a stash of “1000’s” of cigarette butts hidden behind shower frame panels.
The previous occupants smoked cigarettes, and the smell of nicotine lingered in the partitions and carpets of the house.
The entire shower needed to be taken apart to access the cigarette butts which also leaked onto the bathroom tiles resulting from a hole in the bottom of the aluminum frame.
Mrs. Lang-Malone was stunned by the extent of the damage and called it the “laziness” of the previous tenants.
“It really stinks,” she said through Yahoo News. “We mainly destroyed the entire shower – which is a failure – to access the cigarettes, but we did not have much selection because it was disgusting and we were desperate.”
“The most annoying thing is that there’s a balcony two steps from the bathroom, they usually have 1000’s of cigarettes in the bathroom.”
“They smoked throughout the house. The whole carpet from the stairs to the second floor has turned green from nicotine and you possibly can see that it was once blue,” she continued.
“All the woodwork in the house was yellow, the toilet was stained yellow, nicotine was dripping down the partitions. I’ve never seen anything prefer it. And there are cigarette burns on the carpet in the main bedroom.
