Meghan Markle has a “strange relationship with objective reality,” said Vanity Fair author Vanessa Grigoriadis.
The reporter concluded that the way in which Prince Harry and Meghan Markle portrayed the press as a “huge monster” they’ve to fight is simply too comfortable.
Grigoriadis, who profiled Markle in 2018 with special attention to her parents, Doria Ragland and Thomas Markle, she was featured in former BBC journalist Andrew Gold’s Podcasts On the Edge. She she shared her thoughts concerning the duchess from the angle of her media insider.
“He has this warped reality after which gathers evidence underneath it to support a thesis that will not be the case,” said Grigoriadis.
She described Markle as a “struggler” who wanted to be “a household name” and to rise above her family’s life in a “shaggy dog fairy tale”. In doing so, Markle was fighting “authenticity.”
Grigoriadis revealed that when reporting on Markle, she spoke to several friends who described the previous “Suits” star as someone who seems warm and friendly but just isn’t “someone to be friends with.”
Without revealing his name, Grigoriadis also referred to a fellow author who spent the day with Meghan and said that colleague’s takeaway was, “This person is just not up to par.” ”
There is theory that the unnamed author is Allison P. Davis, who wrote profile The Cut on Markle.
Throughout the podcast, Gold asked how Markle compares to a few of the narcissists and sociopaths Grigoriadis has come across in her profession, while covering other topics akin to Cult of NXIVM. Grigoriadis said that Markle just isn’t a psychopath, but regarding Markle and her family, she concluded that there was something “mistaken with all of them”.
Grigoriadis also revealed that when she was writing her profile in Vanity Fair 2018, the editor told her: “We’re not going to say anything negative about Meghan.”
This stands in stark contrast to how Prince Harry and Markle have characterised their relationship with the press. The couple portrayed the tabloids because the principal enemy, as they talked about of their infamous interview with Oprah and of their Netflix documentary “Harry and Meghan”.
But according to Grigoriadis, this is a component of how Markle “warps reality”.
“She was desperate to get the press to take an interest in her,” she said, describing their battle with the press as an “ace up the sleeve” for the couple, as any press manipulation they engage in themselves is now “justifiable.”
