Certainly one of the unique restaurants in the guts of Downtown Disney in Anaheim, California will close its doors for good in two weeks.
Catal Restaurant and its popular outdoor bar Uva will close on April 14, the restaurant announced on Instagram.
The 2 restaurants have been a staple of the Disneyland resort’s outdoor mall for greater than twenty years since Downtown Disney opened in 2001.
“We’re celebrating a tremendous, wonderful, delicious 22 years – from now until our last day of service,” the restaurant said. “…Sip in your favorite cocktails from the past twenty years while toasting laughter, memories, and meals Include us once more to your health.”
Based on Disneyland’s website, the Catal Restaurant is nearing a significant recent Downtown Disney redevelopment.
Over the past 12 months, retailer stores including the AMC theater and Earl of Sandwich location have been demolished to make way for brand spanking new additions, SFGATE reported.
Disney will soon be welcoming Din Tai Fung, a success Chinese restaurant chain best known for its Soup Dumplings and California’s favorite dessert, Porto’s Bakery & Café.
Based on the Orange County Register, in December 2022, Disneyland filed $5.4 million value of constructing permits for brand spanking new construction.
“Industrial constructing permits filed with the Anaheim Planning and Construction Department require a recent 8,300-square-foot retail constructing with space for five stores. Also in preparation: a recent bathroom and a social room for workers.
As well as, Disney plans to construct an event space with a 1,250-square-foot stage, shaded structure, and 21 lights, permits show.
Work on the project progressed slowly. SFGate reports that the demolished area remains to be an empty lot. Renovation delayed approx unusually rainy weather in california.
Where the Catal Restaraunt and Uva Bar used to be, Paseo i Céntrico, a restaurant and courtyard bar that will offer upscale Mexican food and tequila-based cocktails, with a menu by Michelin-starred chef Carlos Gaytán.
Catal and Uva Bar are owned by the Patina Restaurant Group, which owns six restaurants in Downtown Disney and more in Walt Dinsey World and Disney Springs, Florida.
Customers commenting on Catal Restaurant’s Instagram post were sad to see certainly one of their favorite restaurants disappear.
“Please don’t go away?!” one user wrote. “That is a tremendous restaurant. In case you brought back the menu from 2001, I bet the guest would be knocking on the door!”
“So sad about this!” one other commented. “Certainly one of our favourite places! You will be missed!”
