Asia Pacific markets were mostly higher on Monday as some traders returned from the long Easter weekend.
South Korea’s Kospi rose 1.05%, leading the region higher, while the Kosdaq index also gained 0.54%.
Japanese Nike 225 was 0.45% higher and Topix was 0.55%.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite index rose 0.1%, while the Shenzhen component was barely lower.
Markets in Australia and Hong Kong remained closed for the four-day Easter holiday until Monday.
India will release its fiscal deficit data for March as well as its trade data for March, while Indonesia’s retail sales for February will even be released.
Last week, US equities ended a brief trading week on Thursday, with all three major indices posting gains.
The S&P 500 was up 0.36%, while the tech-savvy Nasdaq Composite outperformed with gains of 0.76%, buoyed by gains in Alphabet and Microsoft shares.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose barely by 2.57 points to 33,485.29 after losing greater than 150 points at its session low.
