It actually caused the panda-monium.
The large panda was saved by a breeder who performed the Heimlich maneuver after the furry beast began choking on a piece of carrot on Saturday.
In response to the video that was sent to Douyin — the Chinese version of TikTok — a panda was attempting to eat a healthy snack when a piece of it got stuck in the animal’s throat.
It was then that the employee—identified by Yang’s last name—jumped in to perform a life-saving maneuver.
“Giant panda got stuck in carrot while eating, breeder saved it by Heimlich method,” reads the video caption, in response to Asia Wire’s report.
Viewers could see Yang run up and hit the panda on the back in an try to clear the blockage.
After several attempts, Yang picked up the nearly 500-pound bear and shook it backwards and forwards until it spat out the vegetable.
The China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center identified the panda as Qingqing, who was born in August 2015 and is considered one of 4 siblings transferred from the Bifengxia Panda Center in Ya’an City, Sichuan Province.
In response to zoo officials, Qingqing can be known to be incredibly mischievous and has been dubbed “coal crawling” by zoo-goers because he likes to roll in the ground.
Several Douyin users praised Yang for his quick motion.
“The breeder Yang really tried his best although he could barely hold the panda,” said one user, Asia Wire reported.
“For a bear weighing over 440 kilos, it will need to have been quite difficult for a keeper using the Heimlich method,” said one other.
Other users accused zoo keepers of the incident.
“Won’t you chop the carrot into little strips,” snapped the commentator.
“How can this big, silly bear’s throat be?” one other asked.
