Pamela Blair, who originated the role of Val within the musical “A Chorus Line”, has died. She was 73 years old.
Blair died Sunday at his home in Phoenix, Arizona after a protracted illness. Deadline reported.
Friends and family took to social media to mourn the All My Children actress, with Blair’s Chorus Line contributor Baayork Lee writing: “I’m sad to say my Sagittarius sister Pam Blair went to play along with her [‘A Chorus Line’] friends among the many clouds.
IN Facebook postLee — who shared his birthday with Blair — continued that the couple “all the time texted one another, irrespective of where we were that day.”
Lee recalled how Blair was bringing “the home to smash every night” along with her rendition of “Dance: Ten, Look: Three” from “Chorus Line”.

Born in Vermont on December 5, 1949, Blair began her profession as a stage actress and dancer. She made her Broadway debut in 1968 in “Guarantees, Guarantees”.
She continued to play ensemble roles in Broadway shows including “Sugar” and “Seesaw” before landing her only female role in “Of Mice and Men” as Curley’s wife in 1974.
Blair was best known for her role as the unique Val in “A Chorus Line”, a job she helped develop in 1974 after being asked to attend a workshop.

Her character, Valerie Clarke, was loosely based on her own life, although Val’s love of cosmetic surgery got here from one other dancer.
He famously sings “Dance: Ten, Look: Three” concerning the value of surgical enhancement.
Blair married actor and television director Don Scardino in 1984. The couple divorced in 1991.
“We’re saddened by the news that Pamela Blair, the unique ‘Val’ in A Chorus Line has passed away,” the official account of late ‘Chorus Line’ composer Marvin Hamlisch tweetedadding that she was “a component of the musical from the very first workshop.”
“Our thoughts are along with her family members and fans,” she tweeted.
Blair has appeared in TV shows corresponding to “Ryan’s Hope”, “Loving, One other World” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”.
In 1987, she received a Daytime Emmy nomination for her guest appearance on “All My Children.”
Her film credits include Mighty Aphrodite directed and written by Woody Allen, Annie and 21 Grams.
