It was more of a scare package than a care package.
An Alaskan family was horrified when they opened a package from relatives in Australia and discovered a skull inside.
Andrea Eastley – who grew up Down Under – now lives in Alaska along with her three young children, and the clan expected their grandparents to send them delicious Australian treats for Christmas.
Nonetheless, when the package arrived, it didn’t contain the expected gadgets – instead it contained a skull and a variety of other amazing items.
Together with the skull – which seemed to be that of a small animal – there was also a piece of fabric with symbols and a preserved fish in clear plastic, “wrapped like a mummy”.
“I’m very pleased to open the package we have been waiting for from grandma, with ginger nuts [biscuits] and lollipops [candy] find it,” Eastley wrote in a recent article Video on Instagramwhich showed her unpacking bizarre mail.
While talking to SBS News Australia, Eastley said she wasn’t sure if the skull was real, but noticed there was some dirt on it.
The news service also contacted Australia Post who said they had a record of a package arriving in Alaska from Australia in October.
Eastley says there isn’t a way her mum would have sent the spooky items as a prank as she had promised to send Australian treats to her grandchildren as a Christmas gift.
Nonetheless, she also doesn’t imagine that there’s a malicious motive behind the mail delivery.

“We imagine the package was opened by customs for inspection and they put the mistaken items in it,” Eastley told SBS News.
The USPS website states that packages might be opened for inspection, and once cleared through customs, “the customs officer will repackage and re-seal the shipment.”
The Post contacted each the USPS and Australia Post for further comments.

Meanwhile, viewers of Eastley’s Instagram video were concerned about the package.
“It’s crazy weird!” one scared user declared while one other described the content as “creepy”.
Eastley didn’t reveal what she did with the skull and other items. The whereabouts of her Australian treats also remain a mystery.
