Alec Baldwin, accused of involuntary manslaughter in the 2021 death of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, is facing criticism online after publishing a post about gun control.
The 64-year-old actor shared a screenshot viral tweet from a musician Peter Frampton after a shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville this week that left six victims and the shooter dead.
“26 years ago, a gunman stormed Dunblane Primary School in Scotland, killing 16 children and a teacher,” it said on Twitter. “The UK government has responded by introducing restrictive gun control laws. There have been 0 school shootings in the UK in over 9,400 days since then.”
Baldwin posted a tweet on Instagram and not using a signature, ostensibly in support of gun control measures, however it sparked a backlash from some in light of the actor’s ongoing legal troubles.
“Read Alec’s room. You’re unbelievable,” someone wrote.

“Kettle, pot,” snapped one other, pointing to Baldwin’s apparent hypocrisy.
“Is the guy who killed someone with a gun teaching people about gun violence? Well, I believe he has first-hand knowledge,” one user commented.
“Uploaded by a man who shot a girl with a gun??!” wrote one astonished commentator.
“Does anyone think it’s weird that Alec writes about gun control?” one other asked.
Baldwin was on the set of the 2021 American western “Rust” when a prop was loaded with a live bullet for unknown reasons.
The actor allegedly fired the gun and the bullet hit Hutchins, who later died from her injuries.
“30 Rock” alum is on trial for manslaughter in Recent Mexico, where Hutchins was shot on set, and faces as much as 18 months in prison if convicted.

Baldwin maintains his innocence by pleading not guilty last month in court.
Despite the objections, he’ll do it still ending filming Rust.
Baldwin’s Instagram post got here after the Nashville school shooting on Monday when former student Audrey Hale, 28, stormed right into a Christian academy.
Hale took the lives of three 9-year-old students – Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney – in addition to custodian Mike Hill, 61, substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61, and college principal Katherine Koonce, 60.
Officers responding to the incident found Hale with an assault weapon and a handgun on the second floor of the school and killed the shooter.
During a search of Hale’s family home in the city, law enforcement found maps of the school and a manifesto.

The tragedy reignited the debate over stricter gun laws in the US.
On Tuesday, President Joe Biden urged Congress to act, suggesting an “assault weapons ban.”
