Disgraced fashion mogul Peter Nygard launched a $15 million smear campaign against his billionaire neighbor in the Bahamas – including portraying him as a member of the Ku Klux Klan – which led to a record $203 million in damages being awarded against an accused pedophile, in response to details from the bomb ruling .
The Canadian-born playboy – who’s cooling off in a Toronto prison awaiting trial on charges of multiple sexual assaults and compelled detention – was sentenced to pay the most important sum in a defamation case in Recent York State history last Thursday.
His nearly ten-year legal battle with hedge fund manager Louis Bacon had begun years earlier in a shared driveway near the beach in the Bahamas made famous in the James Bond movie “Thunderbolt.”
The case escalated when Bacon filed a lawsuit in 2015 after a crazed Nygard accused the founder of Recent York-based Moore Capital Management of being every thing from a white supremacist to an insider trader, in response to court records reviewed by the Financial Times that were published on Monday.
A Recent York judge ruled that Nygard, 81, was spreading “malicious lies” about Bacon, employing greater than two dozen people in a $15 million smear campaign.

Other allegations have implicated the arson of a hedge fund manager following a devastating 2009 fire at Nygard’s hideout on the gated Lyford Cay estate, and even a murder following the death of Bacon’s house manager in 2010.
In all, Bacon filed 11 defamation lawsuits against Nygard and his associates.
Bacon, who now lives in the UK, told the court he spent greater than $53 million on legal and investigative work to counter Nygarde’s campaign, FT reports.

Nygard, the founder of women’s fashion company Nygard International, couldn’t be reached for comment while he’s in prison.
Together with his firms in bankruptcy, it’s unclear if Bacon will receive a dime from the record-breaking compensation award.
Nygard was known to host “pamper parties” at a 6-acre palatial estate in the Bahamas, dubbed “Disneyland on steroids” by friends, where teenage girls and young women engaged in “karaoke, dancing and massaging,” in response to a lawsuit filed by Bacon .
He fathered no less than 10 children with eight different women and once dated the late Anna Nicole Smith.
He lived in a bachelor’s palace he called “the eighth wonder of the world” and which included a fake Mayan temple, sculptures of smoke-breathing snakes and a stripper disco, in response to The Recent York Times.

Nygard was first arrested in Winnipeg in 2020 under the Extradition Act after being charged with nine sex-related charges in Recent York City.
US authorities say he used his position in the style industry to lure women and underage girls.
The US extradition request alleges seven applicants who’re to testify at his trials in Canada, where he not only makes allegations in Toronto, but additionally in Montreal.
