Amazon plans to chop more than 17,000 employees, 7,000 more than initially expected, Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.
The e-commerce giant, led by CEO Andy Jassy, began shedding staff in its devices division in November, a source told Reuters at a time when the corporate was targeting 10,000 job cuts.
A few of the additional layoffs come from Amazon’s corporate ranks, the Journal reported, citing people acquainted with the matter.
Amazon didn’t immediately reply to a Reuters request for comment.
