The film captured the dramatic moment when Australian soldiers rescued an unlucky man from the dark waters beneath Darwin’s popular Nightcliff Pier.
Videos of the rescue, originally posted on TikTok and later shared by veteran community The Pineapple Express, show concerned witnesses explaining to soldiers on the pier that somebody is within the water.

Finally, the man was pulled ashore on a lifebuoy, and three soldiers dragged his limp body onto the rocks.
He was carried off the pier on a stretcher by soldiers, witnesses and a police officer before one other soldier arrived to offer medical aid, in front of a crowd of individuals.
A whole lot of Australians praised the soldiers online, with some declaring that it might have been much worse given the crocodiles in the realm.
NT Police said officers responded to a “person in distress” on the pier at around 7.40pm on Wednesday.
“The ADF was already present and pulled the man from the water where he was being treated for non-life threatening injuries,” a spokesman told news.com.au.

The one that uploaded the unique video on TikTok claimed the swimmer jumped into the water after which got drained.
Pineapple Express said soldiers were training nearby.
The Australian Defense Force said the troops were from the Royal Australian Regiment’s fifth Battalion and were training near the pier when the emergency occurred.
“Soldiers worked with members of the general public to avoid wasting the person before Northern Territory emergency services arrived on the scene,” a defense spokeswoman told news.com.au.
“The short response, teamwork and professionalism shown by these soldiers is a reflection of their training and is a unique demonstration of defensive values.”
