Pop star Bebe Rexha was hit in the face with a mobile phone fired from the crowd during a concert in New York City on Sunday.
The 33-year-old Brooklyn resident was walking to the stage towards the audience during a performance at The Rooftop at Pier 17 when a phone was thrown straight into the singer/songwriter’s face, hitting her slightly below her left eye, video recorded by fans.
The Grammy-nominated singer then turned away from the crowd and fell to her knees in pain as crew members rushed to her aid.
Video of the incident showed the phone hitting Rexha in the upper left cheek, slightly below her eye.
The performance was stopped because Rexha, whose real name is Bleta Rexha, was pushed off the stage.
She was seen squeezing her face behind a veil before medics led her backstage and the crowd chanted her name in support.

“Absolutely great show ruined by a fan who threw a phone at it @BebeRexha hope she’s okay after this,” Alex Chavez tweeted with the original video of the “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up” artist being hit.
“That is Bebe Rexha being chased out of a concert hall in New York City after someone threw her phone and hit her in the face as she walked offstage. All of us had a great time, Bebe too, all of us had a great time, I mean who would??? We hope all the things is superb @BebeRexha” fan wrote on Twitter along with a video of the singer leaving the stage.
“Wow, that is so mean and nasty and disturbing. Bebe Rexha doesn’t deserve this in any respect. I hope she’s okay and I hope the one that threw the phone is charged with assault.” – one other supporter tweeted.
Before the phone incident, Rexha invited a fan to the stage sing “I’m Gonna Show You Crazy”.
The concert was the thirteenth stop on the Best F’n Night Of My Life tour promoting her third studio album “Bebe”, which was released in April.
The “I Got You” singer has 4 more shows scheduled, including shows at the Fillmore in Philadelphia, The Fillmore Silver Spring in Silver Spring, Maryland, Tabernacle in Atlanta and Hard Rock Live Orlando.
Earlier this month, the songwriter got right down to it Twitter responds to web trolls — and TikTok search suggestions — after being criticized for her weight swings.
“Yes, I’m in my fat era, and what?” the “Me, Myself & I” singer confidently tweeted, alongside a mirror selfie in the bathroom with her stomach exposed.
