An apartment owner in Canada brutally killed a young engaged couple who lived in his constructing over an alleged housing dispute on Saturday before being shot dead by police.
The 57-year-old fatally shot tenants Carissa MacDonald and Aaron Stone outside a house in Stoney Creek, Ontario, Saturday night, Hamilton police said.
Each MacDonald, 27, and Stone, 28, were dead when officers arrived on the property at 322 Jones Road around 5:40 p.m.
The couple were “running away from the mansion” once they were shot, Det. Hamilton. Sgt. Steve Berezuik told reporters Sunday morning, in line with CBC news.
“These are really innocent victims,” he said. “…This can be a very tragic incident.”
The owner, whose name has not been released, barricaded himself within the residence when police arrived and armed himself with multiple firearms registered to his name while negotiators tried to steer him to give up peacefully for several hours.

“We spent quite a lot of time on the phone yesterday attempting to negotiate a peaceful solution with the suspected man,” Bereziuk said.
The suspect as a substitute fired at an armored police vehicle and then fired several shots at law enforcement officials on the scene around 10 p.m., Hamilton police said.
The officers returned fire, striking him, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Ontario Special Investigations Unit is investigating the shooting as is routine for police shootings. Based on the unit, six investigators and 4 investigators were assigned to the case.

The young couple was recently engaged, reports CBC News. MacDonald was an academic assistant and Stone was an electrician.
Details on what led to the tragic shooting are scarce, but Bereziuk said the dispute between landlord and tenant was not about “unpaid rent,” in line with an area outlet.
“An early clue appears like there’s some sort of dispute over the state of the home,” he said. “Details I do not think I’ll discuss immediately.”
