When former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki announced she was retiring from tennis after the 2020 Australian Open, she wrote in an Instagram post that she “achieved all the pieces I could have dreamed of on the court.”
But after greater than a three-year hiatus, it seems Wozniacki has much more to do on the court.
Wozniacki, 32, he said in a first-person article published Thursday by Vogue that he plans to return to competing at the US Open in August. U.S. Open confirmed Wozniacki will receive a wild card into the predominant event.
“I’m going to start playing in Montreal to get back into the groove, after which we’ll all head to Recent York,” she wrote in the article. “Then I’ll have a couple of months to prepare for Australia after which we’ll get on with it from there. Olympic Games in Paris [in 2024] they’re actually a goal too.”

The “we” she refers to are her husband David Lee, a former Knicks forward, and her children, Olivia and James.
Wozniacki was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2018, but in announcing her retirement in 2020, she said leaving the game “has nothing to do with my health and it is not goodbye.”
Wozniacki lost to Ons Jabeur in the third round of the 2020 Australian Open.

“Three years ago, having achieved almost all the pieces I set out to do, I retired from touring professionally,” Wozniacki told Vogue. “I wanted to start a family and needed a break. I had no idea how long this hiatus would last.”
Wozniacki said she began holding court sessions again late last 12 months and felt she was “hitting higher than ever.” After consulting with her father and husband, she decides she “has to return there”.
The Danish star has won 30 singles titles, including the 2018 Australian Open title for a lone Grand Slam win over a 15-year skilled profession. In 2009 and 2014 she was the runner-up of the US Open.
Wozniacki said she recently had dinner with Serena Williams, who offered her support in Wozniacki’s comeback.
“I do not think Serena gets enough credit for reaching so many Grand Slam finals after she did [Williams’ daughter] Olympia,” said Wozniacki. “Her retirement will all the time be bittersweet, each for me and plenty of other tennis players, because she meant a lot to women’s tennis. She paved the way for a lot of us — she showed us that anything is feasible.”

Wozniacki noted the differences between skilled tennis players and feminine tennis players when it got here to starting families, noting that Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray did not have to stop playing to have children.
“But for girls, it’s mostly either/or, and I’d like to be a part of the change,” Wozniacki said. “Victoria Azarenka, Kim Clijsters and Serena have already shown what it takes to have a baby and get back on tour. It’s tough by any means, however it’s possible.”
