Side Dish has learned that the celebrity-attracting Hamptons resort is the newest high-end property to money in on the tight East End hotel market.
The Capri Hotel and Restaurant in Southampton – which has attracted stars from Howard Stern to Jennifer Lopez through the years and has been a well-liked meeting place for politicians – will cost $29 million.
Buyout corporations have been scouring the Hamptons to seize properties resulting from a shortage of luxury hotels, Side Dish previously reported.
In-built 1960, the hotel is ready on 2.3 acres.
This 3-star property hosts St. Tropez, hosted by Michael Pitsinos’ NAIA Hamptons restaurant, which seats 120 and attracted a partying crowd.
Capri has 29 guest rooms, including three suites tucked away in a “quiet corner” of the property, away from the pool scene.
In July and August, prices start at $999 for a typical room and $1,999 per night for a set.
“It’s inconceivable to create a hotel like Capri today. You’d never get permission. He’s irreplaceable,” said broker Tony Cerio, who will present the property on Tuesday together with fellow brokers Brown Harris Stevens, Mitch Natter and Jared Schiavoni.
The sellers, attorneys Mark Geragos and Tina Glandian of Geragos Global, bought the Capri for $4.8 million just eight years ago. They’ve since updated the ability and added a poolside bar, said Cerio.
Cerio also noted that Capri is way larger than the historic Maidstone Inn, a 180-year-old constructing on a Seventeenth-century East Hampton estate that Cerio also recently helped sell for $17 million.
“Capri has more rooms and there may be scope to expand the variety of rooms and add a tennis court. It’s a singular property,” said Cerio.
Episodes of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and “Summer House” were filmed on the hotel. Her Saturday morning roundtables often attracted the state’s top officials, including Governor Kathy Hochul, Mayor Eric Adams and Attorney General Letitia James.
Over time, Capri has also hosted Pink Elephant, Nobu and BLT. NAIA Hamptons has been running the hotel’s restaurant, outdoor bar and pool generally known as The Bathing Club for 4 years, with top DJs on weekends.
