Nothing can beat the human mind – not even AI-powered chatbots like ChatGPT, says Narayana Murthy, founder of Indian IT services giant Infosysin an exclusive interview.
The web is full of the whole lot ChatGPT can do, from essay writing to coding to chatting like a human.
Launched in November by US company OpenAI, ChatGPT also has clones – Chinese tech giants Alibaba and Baidu have released their very own versions.
“ChatGPT is an incredible addition to generating knowledge, doing certain tasks, like writing an essay,” said CNBC’s Murthy Tanvir Gill on the most recent episode of The CNBC Conversation.
I’m a giant believer in the idea that the human mind is essentially the most powerful imagination, a machine. Nothing can overcome the human mind.

The human mind distinguishes one from the opposite, Murthy said.
“If there’s a contest between you and me, you may use the ChatGPT output as a base after which add your individual differentiation, your individual intelligence, your individual enhancements,” continued Murthy. “After which the teachers will be more impressed with you than me.”
“Lazy people will get C. Only smart people will get A,” said Murthy. “That is why I’m not so nervous about ChatGPT.”

In 1981, Murthy and 6 other engineers founded Infosys with a start-up capital of just $250. Infosys provides business consulting, information technology, software engineering and outsourcing services.
Today, the corporate has grown right into a multi-billion dollar brand with a market capitalization of $62 billion and employs greater than 346,000 people worldwide, from Asia Pacific to North America, Europe and the Middle East.
Infosys was the primary Indian company to be listed on Nasdaq in March 1999 after which listed on the Recent York Stock Exchange in December 2012.
Murthy said he will use ChatGPT as an instrument, an assistant in creating higher quality work and results – but not as a human alternative.
“Ultimately, I’m a giant believer in the idea that the human mind is essentially the most powerful imagination, a machine. There’s nothing that may defeat the human mind.”
Infosys is the third most useful brand of IT services on the planet with a brand value of $13 billion, lagging behind Accenture and Tata Consultancy Services, in line with the Global 500 2023 report by brand evaluator Brand Finance.
