Mainland China’s move away from its zero-COVID-19 policy has led to a spike in infections, and the resumption of travel means some are looking further afield for vaccines.
Mid-December China complete Covid vaccination rate amounted to almost 87%, with a rise of 54%. The major Covid vaccines approved for use in China come from Sinovac and Sinopharm.

Expect to see a wave of mainlanders traveling to Hong Kong to receive the vaccine, said Lam Wingho, a member of the Hong Kong Scientific Committee for local media reports.

“On the uncomfortable side effects of reopening China, our latest study suggests that Hong Kong and Thailand may profit most from a world tourism channel if China lifts visa restrictions and international travel is steadily normalized,” Goldman Sachs wrote in a December 27 research note.
“Going outside of China is certainly an enormous medicine for the minds of many … I feel Chinese people will travel wherever they will get their medicine,” Radwan of Enhance International said.
