CNN presenter Don Lemon accused Prince Harry of “airing the family dirt” on Thursday as the first shocking allegations of royal drama leaked from his upcoming autobiography “Spare”.
During a discussion on CNN This Morning about the potential impact of the book, Lemon questioned Prince Harry’s decision to disclose such personal family matters – including an incident where older brother Prince William allegedly physically assaulted him during an argument over Harry’s current wife Meghan Markle.
“I do not know. Everyone has a family. I actually have family fights. Should I show it to the whole world?” said Lemon. “I just don’t understand why on earth he would wish to publish it. I do know he’s selling the book, however it’s not over yet for me.”
“It’s awkward for me. It is a word,” Lemon added later in the segment.
The alleged physical altercation between the two royals was first reported by The Guardianwho received a replica of Prince Harry’s autobiography. The premiere of “Spare” is scheduled for January 10.
Lemon questioned what Harry hoped to realize with the book.
“What might be achieved?” Lemon asked. “What exactly does he achieve by airing the family dirt? That’s the query.”
Mediaite earlier reported to Lemon’s remarks.
Harry reportedly writes that William confronted him at his London home in 2019. An argument ensued, during which William allegedly called Markle “difficult”, “rude” and “rough”.
The pair reportedly exchanged hotter words, with Harry chastising his brother for repeating the negative “press narrative”, with William claiming he was only attempting to help him.
“Are you serious? Help me? I’m sorry – is that what you call it? By helping me?” Harry reportedly replied.

The Duke of Sussex claimed he tried to appease William by offering him a glass of water – but the altercation continued to take physical form.
“He put the water on, called me by one other name, then got here over to me. All of it happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripped my necklace, and knocked me to the floor. I landed on a dog bowl that broke under my back, bits stuck into me. I lay there for some time, dazed, then got up and told him to get out,” Harry writes.
The upcoming autobiography is predicted to inflame tensions between Prince Harry, Markle and the royal family even further. The couple has already aimed for the crown in the controversial Netflix series titled “Harry and Meghan”.
