The person’s body was found in the landing gear of a plane flying from The Gambia to the UK earlier this month.
Sussex Police said the gruesome discovery happened when a TUI Airlines flight, which was flying from the West African country of Gambia, landed at Gatwick International Airport on December 7.
The police are investigating the mysterious incident and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
The deceased man didn’t have any information or documents that will indicate his identity. Officials also didn’t confirm his identity.
“Based on information, the deceased black man was found in the cabin of the plane with no identification documents to ascertain his name, age, nationality or travel route.” Gambian Government Spokesperson Ebrima Sankareh said Mirror.
“Due to this fact, at this stage, it isn’t clear who he’s.”
While it could be tempting to hitchhike and take a look at to catch a free flight, hiding in the landing gear of an airplane fairly often results in death by exposure. Not only that, but flights will spend many hours at a freezing 38,000 feet altitude where oxygen is scarce.

While that is rare, this isn’t the primary time that a sneaky passenger has been found on planes or ships arriving in Europe. In 2015, Dutch authorities discovered a body in the landing gear of an African plane at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.
Last yr, a stowaway hid behind the wheel of an American Airlines flight from Guatemala to Miami for 3 hours — and survived.
