Alexey Shved, a former Knicks guard, was hospitalized after allegedly being the victim of a “hooligan attack” in his native Russia.
His Russian team, CKSA Moscow, he said in an announcement on Tuesday.
“Our team’s bodyguard, Alexei Shved, was assaulted last night outside a Moscow restaurant,” the statement reads.
“Aleksei suffered a serious head injury because of this of the autumn and an ambulance took him to the hospital. The player contacted the police to research the incident.
“On account of the injury, Shved won’t give you the chance to play in the subsequent matches of the team. We wish Alexei a speedy recovery!”
Shved, 34, played for the Timberwolves, Sixers, Rockets and Knicks in an NBA profession that began in 2012 and led to 2015.
He was traded to the Knicks from Houston with a pair of second-round picks (2017 and 2019) for Pablio Prigioni on February 19, 2015.

In 16 games for the Knicks within the 2014–15 season, Shved averaged 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and three.6 assists per game before a rib injury ended his campaign.
He returned to Europe after a contract deadlock with the Knicks, whose three offers were for an exception for the $2.8 million room he had been looking for.
He played for Khimki Moscow from 2015-21, then rejoined CKSA Moscow, where he also played in 2006-12 before his NBA profession began.
